History of the Department

Department of Information Systems and Modeling

The department was founded in September 2017 as "Information Systems and Modeling" as a result of the merger of the departments "Information Systems" and "Mathematical Methods and Modeling".

At the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year, the department employs: 3 doctors of Sciences (professors); 10 candidates of Sciences (associate professors); 2 PhD doctors and 13 masters.

The Department of Information Systems was established in 2002 on the basis of the Department of Economic Cybernetics of the M. Auezov SKSU. Since its creation, the department has been headed by Kalmurat Abdrazakovich Utebaev. Since 2018, the department has been headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor Zhalgasbek Dulatovich Iztaev. The department trains specialists in the areas of "6b06120-information systems" and "6B06140-Mathematical and computer modeling". Since September 2023, students have been accepted under the new educational program "6B06121-artificial intelligence technologies".

The first head of the department "Mathematical approaches and Modeling" was appointed Ph.D., Professor Sadybekov Mahmud Abdisametovich. From 1996 to 2003, the head of the department was Doctor of Ph.D., Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kalmenov Tynysbek Sharipovich. From 2004 to 2017, the department was occupied by Ph.D., Associate Professor Medetbekova R. A.; Ph.D., Associate Professor Zhapbarov S. A.; Ph.D., Professor Wednesday A.M.; Ph.D., Associate Professor A. Headed by B. Imanbayeva.

The Department of Information Systems and Modeling conducts training in five bachelor's and Master's degree programs included in the register:

All educational programs are updated and updated annually with a focus on the regional labor market and social order by forming professional competencies of graduates, taking into account the requirements of stakeholders.

The Department maintains international relations with universities and scientific institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazNU named after Al-Farabi, KazNTU named after K. Satpayev, Kazakh Economic University named after T. Ryskulov, e, International IT University, Astana IT University), and also closely cooperates with universities of the far and near abroad (Malaysia-Putra University, Italian-Pisa University, Anglo-Wessex Institute of Technology), Russian Federation (Moscow State University, Tambov Polytechnic University, Omsk Technical University, etc.), Czech Republic (Prague Polytechnic University); universities of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. In 2013, the department was invited to give lectures and consultations on "topical issues and problems of information systems" by Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Tyutyunnik, a specialist in the field of theoretical computer science and information systems, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences and academician of many foreign academies, as well as to establish scientific ties between universities. 2 scientific articles have been published on the basis of joint research.

In 2018, research scientist Shamsollah Ghanbari, Azad University, Iran (research area "Distributed systems and high-performance systems") He was invited to give lectures and conduct various seminars and master classes.

In 2019, scientists from the University of Putra (Malaysia) were invited to give lectures, consult and conduct seminars: Professor Nur Izura UZI (Information Security) and Doctor of Sciences Izwan Hafez (Computer Security and Ethics) in 2020 and Doctor of Sciences Fatima Khaled (Computer Vision) in 2021. In 2023, Professor Yusmadi Jaso was invited to give lectures and consultations for students, postgraduates and teaching staff.

Professor of the department Ismailov B. R. In April 2023 gave a lecture at the Fergana Polytechnic Institute on the topic "fundamentals of mathematical modeling", established contacts with scientists, received a patent for several utility models and published scientific articles.

Associate Professor Ismailov H. B. in the 2022-2023 academic year at the Ferghana branch of the Tashkent University of Information Technology named after al-Khorezmi gave lectures on the areas of "fundamentals of simulation modeling", "artificial intelligence" for IT specialties. A memorandum has been signed with the branch of this university, and areas of cooperation have been identified.

As part of the Bolashak program, in March 2014, Associate Professor of the Department Ismailov completed a scientific internship at the Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow).

According to the professional development program "Orleu" in 2015, the teacher of the department " Information Systems" Mugalbekova A. A. studied in Spain at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Within the framework of the Global Internship program, teachers of the department Umarova J. R. (University of Putra Malaysia, Malaysia 2015) and Botaeva S. B. (University of Pisa, Italy 2016) were sent on academic mobility to improve their skills in support of the policy of "trilingualism" of the head of state in the field of education.

Many undergraduates of the Department of Information Systems and Modeling undergo research practice on the basis of an agreement on mutual cooperation between foreign universities and educational institutions named after M. Auezov.

Graduates of the specialties "Information Systems" and "Mathematical and computer modeling" successfully work in the organizations of Kazakhtelecom JSC, Tax Committee, Yuzhpolymetal JSC, KazTransGas JSC, the banking sector of Kazakhstan, etc.

Educational work of the Department

The objective of educational work at the department is to prepare young people who consider the older generation as role models, improve youth policy and the creative potential of youth within the framework of the concept of “Full-fledged person” according to the principles of “Demand, Work, Deep Thought, Satisfaction, Compassion” by Abay Kunanbayev.

There are 38 academic groups studying at the Department of Information Systems and Modeling: 30 Kazakh and 7 Russian groups and 1 English group. Group curators are assigned to each group.

The educational work of the Department of Information Systems and Modeling is carried out in 10 areas. In accordance with this plan of educational work, the department develops and approves its action plan. To this end, a large number of events and educational work are carried out annually, including “Independence - the dawn of eternity”, “Family is the support of the nation”, “The path of youth at the crossroads of religious literacy and religious fanaticism”, “I choose life”, “ My pillar of independence”, “My success is my result”, a seminar, a round table, opinion competitions, and educational events to discuss the problems of drug addiction are organized among young people. The department held meetings with students, healthcare representatives, religious scholars, and employers.

At the beginning of the academic year, when students had just moved into dormitory No. 2, the dean's office decided to organize a housewarming party to welcome the student community.

This year we decided to revive the tradition of the dedication evening, which had been forgotten for three years. It was a special event that we organized with great enthusiasm and joy, striving to recreate the spirit of tradition and unity among the students.

With the support of the dean's office and with the active participation of students, a dedication evening called "MASQUERADE BALL" was held.

Futsal competitions were held between the faculties, which became a highlight and added fun and tension to the atmosphere. Teams from various faculties took part in the competition, and real sports souls fought for them.

The main purpose of these competitions was to provide students with an effective and entertaining rest, contributing to their active communication and sports development.

On the eve of International Women's Day, we expressed our respect and gratitude to the teachers and students by presenting them with colorful bouquets of flowers in recognition and respect for their work and achievements.

Students of all courses became spectators of the play “Kokserek”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of SKU named after M. Auezov.

To create an educational environment, the university’s traditions are used: mentoring, student self-government “Student Council”; opinion competition club “Akikat”; club “Dostyk”; Club “Young Poets”; Youth wing “Zhas Otan”.

The teaching staff of the department is actively engaged in publishing activities. Every year, the department publishes more than 112 articles in various journals and conference collections.
The degree of the department is more than 50%. Of these, there are 4 doctors of sciences, 10 candidates of sciences and 3 PhD (doctors of philosophy). The rest of the teachers are masters in information technology.

On 11.10.2023, an invited foreign teacher, associate professor Dr. Yousmadi Jusokh (University Putra Malaysia) held a training session for the teaching staff of the Department of Information Systems and modeling in the classroom 705 of building G.

During the training, Dr. Yousmadi gave detailed recommendations on search and publication in indexed journals. The opening of the branch is carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded following the meeting of the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev and the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states. As a result of the negotiations of the heads of state, a "road map" was developed. At the level of departmental ministries of the two countries, a trilateral agreement was signed on the opening of a branch in the city of Syrchik.
During the event, the chairman of the management board of M. Auezov-advisor to the rector D. P. Kozhamzharova spoke about the prospects for opening a branch of the leading Kazakh University and presented a presentation.
The presentation focused on the third mission of the University, aimed at contributing to the strategic development of the economy of Shymkent and the southern region.
The auezov University Branch will train competitive and demanded personnel in the labor market of Uzbekistan.
Training of personnel is carried out in the areas of humanitarian, technical, IT-technologies, chemical and food industries.
Chirchik is one of the most industrialized cities in Uzbekistan. Such industries as mechanical engineering, metalworking and the chemical industry are rapidly developing in the region. Taking into account such trends, Auezov University plans to train personnel in the areas necessary for the region.
For reference: South Kazakhstan University named after M. Auezov is the largest multidisciplinary research University of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is a driver of training specialists in the educational space. The University trains specialists in three levels of education in the field of higher and postgraduate education.

The main objective of the practice is to consolidate the theoretical knowledge gained by students in the learning process at the University on the basis of in-depth study of the organization, institution or enterprise, where the practice and industrial skills and methods are acquired.

In accordance with the state educational standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the following types of practices are provided: educational, training, industrial and others.The purpose of educational practice is to familiarize students with the educational programs implemented by the University, the activities of the University, profession, tasks and activities of future professional activities.

Leading teachers of the Department are appointed by the University as the head of the educational practice. In the case where the training practice is defined as a continuation of the study of the discipline, it is carried out by teachers of the Department in this area.Leading teachers of the Department (professors, associate professors, senior teachers) are appointed as heads of industrial and pre-diploma practice.
